Does a degree in college make someone more desirable to the work force ?

On paper I think that it goes along way. But a personal interview could go a long way to establish your mental capabilities as well. I mean you can go to college and recieve a degree, but if a mindset doesn't go along with it, it really shouldn't matter if you have a degree or not, because there are alot of people out there that can do just as well or better than some people that have recieved a degree.
