Is it possible to have dominate viruses that can wipe out other viruses?

Im no biology major but is it possible to synthetically engineer a virus that can render other viruses and at the same time have little effect on our healh example. Simple influenza virus bioenginered to kill aids by taking over its regeneration function? some if this sounds very science fiction like because it is just an outlandish idea but is it possible.
