Does an amethyst gemstone work best with a gold / silver metal ring?

I'm a scorpio with moon in capricorn. DOB 10/NOV/83 Place Raipur (Chattisgarh INDIA) . someone suggested me to wear amethyst but m not sure if to wear in gold or silver metal ring??
