Is the boy's name "Liam" international?

My husband and I are expecting our second son this September. We prefer short 4-6 letter names. My first son is named Eric and we have decided on Liam for this baby. We know it's an Irish/ celtic name in origin. I'd like some feed back from you all about using it for our son. We are American but of West Indian decent. Do you think the name Liam is strickly Irish, or is it international enough to for any nationality to use? We really like the name but we are concerned that it would be misrepresented...?
