Age of the Universe Must be over 13.7 Billion years?
Since nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, thus when the observable universe was created, the expansion speed must be at the speed of light or lesser. So if we have telescopes that can see celestial objects at around 13.7 billion light years away, and we turn these cameras in the opposite direction, can't we also see objects that are also 13.7 billion light years away. Our solar system is not at the center of the universe and we can observe a distance of 27.4 billion light years by combining both directions, does that mean the universe should really be older than 27.4 billion light years? Or could it possibly be wrong for astronomers to posit that we are peering to the beginning of the universe?
