How can I drop the charges?

My ex girlfriend (yes I am a ), was charged with forceful sodomy and object . She went to jail the beginning of the month and got out on bond. I have been subpoenaed to a court date at the end of the month. However I wish to drop the charges. I spoke to her defense lawyer, and he said it was very possible to do that. However, when I spoke to my commonwealth attorney, she informed me that they have a "no drop policy" and that she conveniently didn't have the file on the case at the time, but she would call me to discuss the matter. What steps can I take to have these charges dropped? I live in the state of Virginia (Norfolk area) if it helps at all.
