How come most people never seem to be able to find (and hence like) movies that are actually GOOD?

i just saw RED and it was awesome. i'd never even heard about it until tonight. i saw tron earlier today too and it was entertaining, but i might as well have just played billiards or went bowling. it didn't make me think about anything afterwards or really have me engaged in the story. is it all a matter of who advertises the most? pshhhh boo society (and yes, i'm well-aware that i've answered my own question :$ feel free to voice your thoughts too)
